In 2023, Xiaomi announced that MIUI 14 would be the last of its name for the company’s new mobile devices. Instead, a new, redesigned operating system named “HyperOS” would take its place. Starting with the Xiaomi 14 series, HyperOS would become the standard operating system for all future Xiaomi phones.

With this announcement, many users expected that some familiar features, including the popular Mi Dialer, would make a comeback. These features had been pulled back from recent MIUI versions for certain regions. However, the initial release of HyperOS didn’t include any of these updates. This article will provide a detailed guide on installing the stock Mi Dialer on devices running HyperOS.

Xiaomi’s new operating system, HyperOS

Why Doesn’t My Phone Have the Stock Mi Dialer?

While Xiaomi’s mobile operating system, HyperOS, boasts the same functionality on the surface, it’s actually quite diverse and differs for certain regions and phones. It doesn’t necessarily provide the same feature set for the same phone in every region.

HyperOS is divided into specific software versions catering to particular regions in different ways. For example, there’s a HyperOS Global ROM, one for China, Indonesia, Russia, India, and even Europe.

In 2019, due to regional privacy restrictions, Xiaomi replaced the Mi Dialer with Google’s Phone and Messaging apps in its Global and European ROMs. The Mi Dialer offered features like call recording, but without notifying the recipient, which raised privacy concerns.

This move wasn’t well-received by users, who sought alternatives to bring back the Mi Dialer. Some switched to devices with a different software region, while others opted to flash a different ROM. This period also saw the rise of MIUI-inspired custom ROMs (like Xiaomi.eu) that restored features Xiaomi had removed, including the Mi Dialer.

How to Get Mi Dialer in Your HyperOS Device?

Xiaomi didn’t port back the excluded featureset in the same regions in HyperOS, which meant that while regions like India, Indonesia and China had Mi Dialer built into their HyperOS devices, the other regions were stuck with the Google Phone app.

Switching to the Mi Dialer in HyperOS

There are three main ways, in general that would being back the Mi Dialer to your phones, fully operational. These are:

  1. Switching to a Supported HyperOS ROM — Works with Locked Bootloader
  2. Flashing the Xiaomi.eu Custom ROM — Requires an Unlocked Bootloader
  3. Porting the Mi Dialer Module via Magisk — Requires Root Permissions (Not Recommended for Normal Users)

↪ Precautionary Measures

The procedures mentioned above may appear somewhat technical for some users, which is why it is always advisable to have a backup plan in place in case anything goes sideways. As a precautionary measure, the initial course of action should be to save all important data, either by storing it externally or using cloud storage, as there is a possibility that all data may need to be erased.

It is also important to know what to do if any of the procedures mentioned above lead to your phone becoming bricked, rendering it unusable. For this, we advise you to enable “USB debugging” in your phone’s Settings. This is because if the HyperOS update causes issues, or your phone crashes or the operating system becomes corrupt, there is always the option to flash the stock firmware via an external computer.

To enable USB Debugging, follow the steps below:

  1. Go to Settings and tap on “About Phone.”
  2. Look for the “OS version,” and tap on it several times till you see the message: “You are now a developer.
    Enabling “Developer options” in HyperOS
  3. Head back to Settings and scroll down to find “Additional settings.” Tap on this.
  4. Scroll down to “Developer options,” and tap on it.
  5. Look for “USB debugging,” and turn the toggle on.

1) Switching to a Supported HyperOS Region (Global to India)

There are two approaches to enabling the Mi Dialer app on your phone. The first option involves switching your phone’s ROM to a region where the app is supported. In this case, we’ll focus on changing from a Global HyperOS ROM to the Indian region.

Our approach will be to present the region change as a software update. We’ll first use Mi’s System Updater app to authenticate the update while still running on the Global HyperOS ROM. Then, during the installation process, the system will switch to the Indian HyperOS ROM.

These steps were verified on a Redmi Note 12 running HyperOS 1.0.4.0. The user interface or sequence of steps may differ on your device due to variations in model, settings, or software version.

Step 1: Downloading the Recovery ROM Files

Firstly, you will need to download the necessary ROM files for installation. There will be two different files required: one corresponding to the exact region your phone is operating in (for authentication), and the other being the ROM you intend to switch to. It’s crucial to note that you should download the Stable ZIP versions of the firmware files, not the Fastboot files.

To download the files, we’ll use MiFirm. The links to the specified files are provided as it’s important that both ROM files for each region are more recent than the one currently installed on your phone. These will most probably differ from the ones replicated in the steps down below.

Step 2: Moving the Recovery ROM Files to Main Partition

Once the files have been downloaded, you’ll find them in the Downloads folder within your internal storage. To proceed with flashing the update, these files need to be copied to the main partition of the internal storage.

  1. From your home screen, open the File Manager app.
  2. On the bottom bar, tap “Storage.”
  3. Scroll down and locate the “Download” folder. Open it.
Accessing the recovery ROM files from the device’s internal storage.
  4. Locate the ROM files. Long press on one of them to select both files.
  5. In the bottom menu, tap “Move.”
  6. Choose “Internal shared storage,” then tap “Move” again to confirm.
Moving the ROM files to the main partition.

Step 3: Setting up the Recovery ROM Files

In the internal storage, both files will now be used to manually push the update. However, HyperOS does not allow direct firmware updates from one region to another. To bypass this limitation, we’ll need to first authenticate the update using one file (the Global ROM), and then rename the India ROM to the same name to proceed with the update process.

Here’s how to rename the Global ROM:

  1. Long-tap on the Global ROM recovery ZIP file.
  2. In the bottom menu, tap on “More” > “Rename.”
    Renaming the Global ROM file.
  3. Choose a short and memorable name for the file.
Choose a short, memorable name for the file.

Step 4: Adjusting the Phone’s Settings for Manual Update

Before we begin manually pushing the update, there are a few things to check. The first is to clear the app data for the Updater app, and the second is to change the phone’s region to “United States.” This step bypasses a basic security check that HyperOS performs on the client-end after a specific update file is selected for installation.

Here’s how to clear the app data for Updater:

  1. Go to Settings and select “Apps.”
  2. Choose “Manage apps.”
    Accessing App Settings in HyperOS
  3. Locate the three vertical dots in the top right-hand corner. Tap on them and choose “Show all apps.”
  4. In the search bar, type “Updater,” and once the app appears, tap on it.
  5. At the bottom of the screen, tap on “Clear all data.”
Clearing app data for the Updater app.
  6. Confirm by selecting “Clear all data,” and when prompted, tap “OK.”
Choose “Clear all data,” and when prompted tap “OK.”

Once this is done, change your phone’s region to United States. Here’s how you do that.

  1. Go to Settings and select “Additional settings.”
  2. Tap on “Region.”
    Accessing Region Settings in HyperOS
  3. Search for the United States, and once it appears, tap on it.
Changing the Region to the United States.

Step 5: Manually Pushing the Update

Once the setup has been completed, we will proceed to the actual part where we manually update the OS to a different region. To do this, we will first need to unlock the option to manually update HyperOS using a ZIP file.

After that is done, we will select the Global ROM. Then, immediately after it starts verifying the files, we will switch to the File Manager and rename the Global ROM to something else. At the same time, we will rename the India ROM to what the Global ROM was named previously.

Here’s how you can unlock the option to push an update manually:

  1. Open Settings and select “About phone.
  2. Tap on the HyperOS logo in the middle of the screen. This opens up the Updater.
  3. Now, tap the HyperOS logo continuously 7 times till you see the message “Additional update features are on.”
Turning on “Manual update” on HyperOS

Once this is done, we’ll move to the actual update process.

Before moving on to the next step, please close any unnecessary background applications and launch the File Manager app. This will allow you to quickly rename the file as soon as the Updater initiates the authentication process.
  1. Open Settings and go to About phone > Updater (tap on the HyperOS logo).
  2. Tap the three vertical dots in the top right corner and select “Choose update package.
  3. Locate and choose the Global ROM from the list of files. This will immediately begin the authentication process.
Updater authenticating the old (HyperOS.Global) file.
  4. Quickly switch to the File Manager app. Copy the filename of the Global ROM. While the filename is copied, rename the Global ROM itself to something different.
Switching the ROM files for authentication.
  5. Paste the copied filename into the India ROM to rename it.
  6. Return to the Updater app. The system will now continue the update process using the renamed India ROM.
  7. The update process may take anywhere from around 10-25 min. After this, the app will prompt you to restart the device to complete the installation process.
The flashing/region change process can take longer than a usual update.

Step 6: Rebooting the Device to Finish Installing the Update

After the phone finishes rebooting, you will notice that it takes quite a while to start up. This is normal. Once the phone loads the operating system, you’ll notice that the Google Phone app is gone, and instead, a few new apps including Mi Dialer and Messaging have appeared on the home screen. The process has been completed.

2) Flashing the Xiaomi.eu Custom ROM

Xiaomi.eu is a community of developers/modders who unofficially provide custom ROMs based on official HyperOS releases. These ROMs are not officially supported by Xiaomi, so new features may take time to be ported. However, they do offer several improvements over the stock ROM.

Firstly, they come with minimal bloatware, making them faster, smoother, and more responsive. They also include all region-locked features like the Mi Dialer and the Messaging app, and often offer better customization options.

On the flip side, however, unlocking your bootloader is necessary, and you will need to wait for 168 hours before starting the flashing process. Furthermore, your warranty will be void, and there is a slight possibility that your phone may become corrupted or bricked if proper instructions are not followed during the flashing process.

Here are some of the differences between the stock HyperOS ROM and Xiaomi.eu’s versions.

↪ Flashing the ROM

To get Mi Dialer, you may need to flash the entire ROM from scratch. However, this process is beyond the scope of this article. If you need additional information on flashing the ROM, you can consult official Xiaomi.eu forums and XDA guides. These sources provide in-depth information on the minor intricacies for each different version and devices.

Conclusion

If you’re using a Xiaomi device running HyperOS and want to port the Mi Dialer, the most safe option is to flash the same ROM designed for a different region. Alternatively, if you’re inclined to experiment, unlocking your device’s bootloader and flashing a different ROM could also be a viable approach.

FAQs

Will I loose my data if I switch to a different HyperOS region?

In most cases, you won’t but in all cases, it is usually best to take a full backup of your data since if anything goes wrong, you would have something to rest back to. This is also why it is a good idea to turn on Developer options before proceeding, since if you hard-brick your phone, you always have a chance to recover.

Can I flash the China ROM if I’m currently using the Global HyperOS ROM?

At the moment, it isn’t advisable to go with the China ROM. The safest route is to essentially stick to the India region.

Will flashing the HyperOS.IN ROM void my warranty?

Since you are not tinkering around with the system software in any way and are using a ‘loophole’ to essentially push an update via the official Updater app, there shouldn’t be any problems. However, it depends on how the service officials respond to your problem at hand.

Will I need to unlock my phone’s bootloader to flash the Xiaomi.eu ROM?

Yes, you will need to unlock your bootloader and wait for 168 hours before starting the flashing procedure. This is because Xiaomi.eu ROMS, though they may look oddly similar in use, are actually unofficial releases based on the official HyperOS ROM.

For most smartphone enthusiasts, the ability to tweak system software and the flexibility to flash custom firmware is what gives them an edge over the competition. Over the years, many developers have taken Google’s open-source Android framework (AOSP) and added third-party code to create custom ROMs.

LG, for example, shut down its smartphone division in 2021. However, even with limited official resources available, is it still possible to switch back to the stock firmware without unlocking the bootloader? This guide will delve deep into understanding the intricacies of how bootloaders work and whether unlocking them is necessary to reinstall stock firmware.

How Do Bootloaders Work?

In simple terms, a bootloader is a program created by your device’s manufacturer. It runs before the operating system starts, acting as an intermediary to ensure a smooth startup process. When you power on your phone, it initiates a pre-boot sequence called POST (Power-On-Self-Test). This sequence verifies whether all the hardware components are functioning properly.

Bootloaders are essential to maintain system security

Next, the bootloader initializes a Trusted Execution Environment (TEE). This essentially establishes a “safe zone” within the processor, isolated from the main operating system. This secure environment is used to perform highly sensitive operations.

In the end, the bootloader verifies the integrity of the operating system and the recovery partitions. Once everything is confirmed, it proceeds to load the kernel into memory.

What Happens When You Unlock a Bootloader?

The bootloader is responsible for maintaining and verifying system integrity and security against unauthorized outside access. In the case of an operating system, it verifies certain software signatures before allowing them to run. A locked bootloader only verifies software signed by a certain manufacturer to run.

When you unlock the bootloader, you essentially remove these restrictions, which allow you to install, flash, or even grant root access to certain pieces of code on your phone.

Is An Unlocked Bootloader Necessary to Flash Stock Firmware?

While flashing a custom ROM requires you to have an unlocked bootloader to bypass a certain manufacturer’s software signature check, a locked bootloader is not only acceptable but preferred when flashing stock ROMs.

In most cases, especially for certain manufacturers like Xiaomi, flashing stock firmware on an unlocked bootloader will instantly re-lock the bootloader. The reason for this is that a locked bootloader is more secure, preventing malicious and dangerous code from interfering with official system files.

How to Unlock Bootloader in LG?

For LG devices, an unlocked bootloader is not necessary to flash stock firmware. This is important because, after shutting down its mobile division, LG announced that it would also discontinue official resources and tools for unlocking the bootloader via the official method.

LG has discontinued official tools for unlocking the bootloader on its devices | LG Developer

The official method for unlocking the bootloader on your LG device included requesting the company for a certain unlock key, which could then be used to unlock the bootloader easily. However, since those services are no longer accessible, the modding community has turned to unofficial methods. Keep in mind that not all LG phones were designed to have their bootloaders unlocked.

The image below shows a list of supported models from the official website (thanks to /u/C—D via Reddit):

↪ Unlocking the Bootloader on LG

For LG smartphone owners, unlocking the device’s bootloader can be risky since many so-called “unlocker” software programs available online haven’t been successful for most users, and they can also introduce potential security vulnerabilities in your device.

At Appuals, we prioritize the safety and security of your devices. This is why we advise against using third-party, unofficial software to unlock bootloaders. There have been reports of such software causing damage, sometimes even hard-bricking the device.

While there may have been a legitimate method to obtain unlock codes from LG themselves in the past, these unlock.bin files, along with corresponding phone IMEIs and other information, have been dumped onto forums like XDA to analyze how the key is generated for a particular device.

These forums can be a resource if you’re interested in learning more about the technical details of unlocking. However, this article focuses on a safer alternative — flashing the stock ROM, which doesn’t require an unlocked bootloader.

Conclusion

Although LG has discontinued support for many tools and files related to its phones, there’s still room for customization. While unlocking the bootloader on LG devices is highly unlikely at this point, you can still flash stock firmware without going through that process.

FAQs

Do I need to unlock my LG’s bootloader to flash stock firmware?

No, you do not. A locked bootloader is preferable when flashing the stock firmware since it provides a safe environment for the software to perform its operations. Most phones auto-lock their bootloaders when a stock firmware is flashed.

Can I unlock my LG’s bootloader using the tools available on the internet?

LG shut down its mobile division and, later, its developer tools in 2021, so there is currently no official way to access unlock keys to unlock the bootloader. Some XDA forums have multiple users submit the unlock.bin files they had previously requested, but they are tied to a specific IMEI and can’t be used on all similar devices.

Will my data be deleted when flashing the stock firmware?

Yes, your data will be deleted. Aside from the fact that it isn’t safe, there is also no possible way to dirty flash the stock firmware onto a custom ROM. If you are upgrading from the stock firmware to a newer version, then it may be possible that your data isn’t wiped off (use the Normal mode in the LG Flash tool). However, it is still recommended to stick to a clean flash.

As mobile devices become smarter and more powerful, people are shifting to this smaller form factor for their on-the-go everyday work or tasks. These devices have become integral to people’s professional lives, sometimes making multitasking performance a major consideration for most potential buyers.

This is where the software comes into play, and Xiaomi has, for some people, effectively executed the concept with something called the “Freeform” functionality. This guide will delve into detail to explain what this feature is and how to get it on any AOSP device.

What is MIUI Freeform?

MIUI is a highly custom-designed Android ROM developed to run on Xiaomi devices. While HyperOS has now replaced this operating system, most of the functionality remains the same. MIUI is well-known in the Android community as a piece of software that gives users loads of customization options. Among them is something called the “Floating Window.”

READ MORE:

↪ Floating Windows

Floating windows are essentially supported apps displayed in resizable, layered windows that can hover or overlap other applications. This functionality allows for multitasking and better productivity by enabling users to work within multiple apps simultaneously without switching between them.

While the concept of freeform windows existed in most stock Android devices after Android 7, Xiaomi’s MIUI pushed this concept even further.

↪ MIUI Freeform

MIUI Freeform isn’t a native built-in app; instead, it’s a third-party service that enables you to replicate the functionality of floating windows in MIUI. The main difference lies in how Mi-Freeform operates for any app, regardless of whether the developer supports it—it essentially shrinks apps into resizable windows.

As shown in the image above, MIUI’s floating window allows you to have only one app open at a time in a resizable window. However, the modded Mi-Freeform lets you use multiple apps in floating windows simultaneously. This is particularly beneficial when transitioning to a larger display, such as a tablet.

How to Get MIUI Freeform on Any AOSP Device?

Although ‘Floating Windows’ are exclusive to Xiaomi devices, you can achieve similar functionality by porting features from other sources onto your phone. There are several methods, but this guide will highlight two: using the built-in freeform functionality on Android and using Shizuku for a more advanced approach.

The two methods for getting freeform windows on your phone are listed below and will be explained in detail later:

  1. Mi-Freeform via Shizuku
  2. Built-in Freeform on Android

1. Method 1: Native Freeform (Android 10+) — Non-Root

Most Android devices based on AOSP have a built-in feature called “Freeform Window,” that allows you to use apps in resizable floating windows. This can be enabled through the phone’s settings. Some device manufacturers also have their own versions of this feature with different names. For example, Samsung Galaxy devices call it ‘Multi Window’.

The AOSP, or Android Open Source Project is the fundamental blueprint for the Android operating system. Most device manufacturers, such as Samsung, OnePlus, and Xiaomi, use AOSP as a foundation upon which they develop their own operating systems. Google’s proprietary software, used in their phones and tablets, is often considered to be the closest to pure AOSP.

To enable freeform functionality on your Android device, follow these steps:

1. Enable Developer Options

The first step is to enable Developer options, if you haven’t done so already. This is because “Freeform Window” is still considered an experimental feature and can only be accessed and enabled within the Developer Options menu of your phone’s settings.

  1. Go to your phone’s Settings.
  2. Scroll down to the “About” section and tap on it.
  3. Locate the phone’s build number and tap it multiple times until you see the message “You are now a developer.
  4. Now, go back, and you will be able to see the “Developer Options” in your phone’s settings.

2. Enabling Freeform Windows in Developer Options

Once you’ve enabled Developer options, you’ll need to locate the setting within the options menu. These options are usually found on the main Settings page, or under a sub-menu called ‘System‘ within Settings. After you’ve entered the Developer options menu, follow these steps:

  1. Open Developer options.
  2. Scroll down until you see the “Enable Freeform windows” option. Turn on the toggle for this option.
  3. Right above this option, locate the “Force activities to be resizable” option. Turn this on too.

2. Method 2: Porting MIUI Freeform via Shizuku — ROOT

The native freeform functionality has limitations. It doesn’t allow app overlay and isn’t smooth enough for daily use. It currently only runs on the home screen and seems to be in an experimental stage with minor issues and bugs.

For these reasons, many users prefer the MIUI version of freeform, which offers resizable floating windows. However, to use this functionality on a non-MIUI device, you’ll need to port the feature to your phone. While this method can potentially work on all phones, it generally integrates better with AOSP ROMs.

For this procedure, here are some apps you’ll need to have installed beforehand:

  1. Shizuku
  2. Mi-Freeform

1. Set-up Shizuku (ADB)

The first step is to set up Shizuku, and for this, you will need to connect to an external PC. Before that, it is important to enable USB Debugging. To do this, follow these steps:

  1. Go to your phone’s Settings.
  2. Tap on System > Developer Options.
  3. Scroll down until you find “USB Debugging.
  4. Turn the toggle to on.

Once this is done, you will need to run Shizuku via ADB. For that, you will need to,

  1. Connect your phone to a PC.
  2. Install the relevant ADB drivers.
  3. Open Command Prompt.
  4. Type “adb shell sh /storage/emulated/0/Android/data/moe.shizuku.privileged.api/start.sh
  5. Hit Enter and Shizuku will be up and running.
Running Shizuku via ADB

Once the ADB command above is fully executed, you’ll see that the Shizuku app will show how the service is running.

2. Running MIUI Freeform App

After Shizuku has been initialized, you’ll need to start the Mi-Freeform app. This app will be downloaded via GitHub (thanks to sunshine0523). Here’s how to use the app to open resizable floating windows on Android.

The screenshots below were replicated on a device running stock Android. Screenshots courtesy of Xiaomiui.

Conclusion

Mi-Freeform is an easy way to use Xiaomi’s floating windows functionality in any Android phone. However, it requires root, so the alternative method is to use the built-in freeform windows feature, available in every Android device starting with Android 10.

FAQs

How does the stock “Freeform Windows” feature differentiate from Mi-Freeform?

While the core functionality is similar, the main difference lies in the number of apps and how they are displayed. Mi-Freeform allows you to essentially fill your screen with floating windows on top of any app. However, with the stock feature, you can only display apps on the home screen, not on top of any other app.

Can you use Mi-Freeform without root?

At the moment, the project detailed above is not made to work with non-root devices. To use Mi-Freeform, you will need a rooted phone running AOSP.

How is Mi-Freeform different from the split-screen mode?

In the split-screen mode, you can only have two apps stacked vertically; however, with Xiaomi’s floating windows, ported into the Mi-Freeform app, you can have as many floating and resizable windows as you like on top of any application you want.

Xiaomi users have recently taken to the Internet to find the cause behind their phone making loud noises when in use. This can raise several questions for those unfamiliar with how cameras work on a phone or in the worst scenario might indicate something faulty. That’s why in this article, we will look into the Xiaomi Camera too much noise issue and provide you with the answers you need. So, let’s jump in!

The purpose of Image Stabilization

Understanding Image Stabilization

To properly understand the causes behind these strange noises, we’ll first have to look into how phone cameras stabilize images. Image stabilization is a common feature in phone cameras that helps prevent blurry photos and shaky videos. It works by steadying the camera against hand movements or vibrations that can mess up image quality, ensuring your shots don’t shake as much as you do.

READ MORE: How to Make A Picture Less Blurry – 4 Easy Solutions for 2024 ➜

How OIS Helps in Image Stabilization

OIS is a hardware solution that is integrated into mobile devices to prevent blurry photos. OIS uses a micro-electromechanical system (MEMS) gyroscope which detects your hand movements and adjusts the camera accordingly. This means that if you are holding your smartphone and your hand moves to the right, OIS will detect this and will physically shift lens elements to the left as counteract.

OIS vs EIS – Made by Google

As the OIS physically moves the components of a camera to provide image stabilization, it can often produce slight noise when performing in the background. In fact, if you shake your phone you can even hear the parts move around but don’t do it too much as it can cause damage.

Other Types of Image Stabilization

Electronic Image Stabilization (EIS) and Hybrid Image Stabilization (HIS) are two additional methods used to stabilize images in cameras, including smartphones.

  • EIS relies on software algorithms to analyze footage and digitally smooth out any motion blur. While effective in reducing shake, it may not offer the same level of stability as OIS, especially in fast-moving or unpredictable scenarios.
  • HIS combines the best of both OIS and EIS by integrating hardware and software solutions. HIS offers enhanced stabilization capabilities by utilizing sensor data and software processing, particularly in challenging shooting conditions.

Reasons For Xiaomi Camera Too Much Noise

Now that you know how OIS works, it should be clear that the slight noise you keep hearing is probably due to your phone’s OIS. Additionally, to provide autofocus in phone cameras the lens also moves within a magnetic field when the camera is in use.

Reasons that can damage your camera

If the two are just what you are facing then there’s no need to worry as this type of movement is entirely normal. However, if the noise is particularly loud and you can see a slight shaking in your photos, there is a chance that your phone’s OIS has been damaged, causing strange sounds during the operation.

How to Fix Xiaomi Camera Too Much Noise

If you are experiencing excessive noise from your Xiaomi camera, the only thing you can do is get your OIS checked to make sure that the sound isn’t primarily coming from the OIS system. If it is, the best thing you can do is have it replaced by either visiting an authorized Xiaomi store or contacting customer support to guide you around.

Visit the Xiaomi website to find authorized Mi stores

↪ How To Prevent Damage of OIS

One of the most common reasons why OIS systems break in phones is due to excessive and violent shaking. For instance, if you regularly travel on a motorbike and record your journey on shaky roads, the continuous ups and downs can cause serious damage to the OIS system. Hence, we always recommend carefully using the image stabilization feature and trying your best to prevent the camera from being dropped.

Wrapping Up

Hearing loud noises from a mobile phone is never a good sign. While phone cameras do make slight adjustments to function properly which can cause small sounds, too much noise can be a sign of a faulty OIS. So, we recommend getting your phone checked to fix any hardware-related issues. Always handle your device with care to avoid such issues in the future.

Users can adjust these settings to fine-tune their photography, allowing for more creative control and the ability to capture images in challenging lighting conditions or specific artistic preferences.

Setting up a password on your Android phone is a great way to protect your information from others. But what if you forget that password? Don’t worry—you still have a chance to access your phone without it.

In this guide, we’ll show you if there’s a universal unlock pin or pattern that can open any Android device. We’ll also explain how to unlock your phone without password and how to avoid losing your pins or passwords in the future, ensuring you always have access to your phone.

This information is simple to follow and meant to help everyone, no matter how much they know about technology.

Is there a universal unlock PIN/Pattern for Android?

Is there a universal unlock PIN pattern for Android?

Sometimes, when you can’t remember your phone’s password, you might try guessing it or look for a special code that works on all Android phones. Let’s clarify: no magic code can unlock every Android phone.

If such a code existed, putting a password on your phone wouldn’t make sense because anyone could use that code to get in.

But there’s no need to worry. Several reliable ways exist to get into your Android phone without erasing your information. So, if you ever hear about a magic code that can unlock any Android phone, it’s not true.

The truth behind universal unlock Pin for Android: Myth or reality?

What is the myth about universal PIN or Pattern to unlock Android? |

A lot of people think there’s a single code or pattern that can unlock any Android phone, especially when they forget their own password. They hope for a magic solution that can open up any device.

But the reality is different. There’s no such thing as a one-code-fits-all for Android phones. It might seem likable to believe there’s an easy way out, like using very common passwords or patterns (like “1234,” “0000,” or simple lines and shapes).

However, these aren’t secret keys that unlock every phone. They’re just popular choices that many people use, but they won’t work as a universal solution for getting into any Android device.

Actual ways to Unlock your Android with Pin or Pattern

We will explore practical solutions that can help you regain access to your device. We’ve compiled a list of effective methods to solve this common difficulty.

1. Unlock Android via Find My Mobile

If your phone is running on version 7.1.1 or older, you can use Google’s “Find My Mobile” feature to unlock it. This works by resetting your password from another device, giving you access to your phone again.

However, it’s important to note that this method isn’t compatible with newer operating systems and phone models due to updated security features. Now, you can only erase your phone with the help of this method, which allows you to get into your phone without needing a PIN or pattern.

CAUTION: It is like factory resetting your phone. So, using this method will erase everything on your phone. Ensure you’re okay with losing your data.

To unlock your Android phone with Find My Phone, follow these simple steps:

  1. On a different device or computer, visit the Google Find My Phone website and sign in with the Google account linked to the phone you want to unlock.
Sign in with your Gmail account
Sign in with your Gmail account
  2. You’ll see three options: Play Sound, Secure Device, and Erase Device. Choose “Erase Device.”
    Select Erase Device
    Select Erase Device
  3. You’ll be prompted to enter your email and password again. Click “Next.” This will remove all data from your phone, and you can then set a new password.

  1. iSunshare Android Password Genius
  2. UltFone Android Unlock
  3. EaseUS MobiUnlock for Android

These tools help remove the screen lock (such as passwords, patterns, PINs, fingerprints, and face IDs) and the Google FRP lock.

Start by opening one of these unlocking programs and picking the option to remove the screen lock. These tools work with lots of Android phone brands. You’ll have to select your phone’s brand on the screen. The steps might change depending on your phone’s brand, so follow what the tool says.

Once you’ve followed all the steps, you can unlock your Android phone again without needing the password, PIN, or pattern. This simple and quick method allows you to get back into your locked phone quickly.

  1. Press and hold the Power and Volume Up buttons to enter Recovery Mode
Press both buttons at a time
Press both buttons at a time
NOTE: The method for entering Recovery Mode can differ from phone to phone, so check the proper button combination for your device first.

Here’s how to do it:

  1. First, you need to download the Android Debug Bridge tool onto your computer. Also, download and install the USB drivers for your phone from the manufacturer’s official website.

FAQs

Can I find a universal unlock pin for Android?

No, a universal unlock pin doesn’t work for all Android phones. However, there are different methods you can try to unlock your device if you’ve forgotten your password, PIN, or pattern.

Is it safe to unlock my Android phone using Safe Mode?

Using Safe Mode to unlock an Android phone’s password set by the device’s default security system does not work. Safe Mode is intended for troubleshooting apps and doesn’t bypass built-in lock screens.

Using specific methods to unlock your phone, like rooting or using unauthorized third-party tools, can void your warranty. It’s best to try official methods first, such as those provided by your phone’s manufacturer or Google.

What happens if I enter the wrong PIN too many times?

Entering the wrong PIN too many times typically locks your phone temporarily. The duration of the lock increases with each incorrect attempt. Some phones (Android 4.4 and older) offer you the option to unlock via your Google account or a backup PIN after several failed attempts.

What if none of the unlocking methods work for me?

If you’ve tried all available methods and still can’t unlock your phone, you might want to contact your device’s manufacturer or a professional phone repair service.

While using Twitter, users reported the error ‘Cannot retrieve posts at this time. Please try again later.‘ This error prevents the exploration of hashtags or trends and disrupts the normal use of Twitter. One of the primary reasons for this error is that you’re being Rate-limited. It could also stem from technical or connectivity issues with the app.

Technical issues may include outdated app versions, in-app glitches or bugs, stored cache or data with bugs, while connectivity issues may involve problems with the internet or servers.

In this article, we will discuss remedies to resolve this issue.

1. Preliminary Fixes

  • Check your internet: A stable and robust internet connection is essential for Twitter to load tweets correctly. Check your internet speed at Fast. If the speed is inadequate, consider restarting your router/modem or contacting your ISP.
  • Server Status: Verify whether Twitter is experiencing server problems or downtime, as this might prompt the app to produce errors. Server status can be checked here.
  • Disable VPN: A VPN or proxy can interfere with your connection to Twitter. Disabling these services may solve the issue.

2. Rate Limits and Twitter Blue

Twitter has enacted a policy that limits the number of tweets viewed daily to prevent data scraping and system manipulation. If you have reached this limit, you will be rate-limited and unable to access new tweets. The account limits are:

  • Verified accounts can read up to 10,000 tweets.
  • Unverified accounts can read up to 1,000 tweets.
  • Newly created unverified accounts can read up to 500 tweets.

This rate limit typically lasts up to 24/48 hours, so it is advisable to wait for 48 hours.

2.1 Twitter Blue

Subscribing to Twitter Blue may increase the tweet viewing limit, allowing you to access more tweets.

  1. Open Twitter and tap on the Premium option on the left panel.
  2. Proceed to purchase Premium or Premium+.
  3. Follow the on-screen prompts and complete the payment.

3. Force Stop the App

Glitches or temporary bugs can cause errors. To resolve these issues, try closing the Twitter app and reopening it, or force stop the app and then start it again.

  1. Long-press the Twitter icon and select App info.
  2. Tap on the Force Stop button.
  3. Restart the app and check if the error has been resolved.

4. Sign Out and Sign In Again

Your login session might expire, causing errors when the app still indicates you are logged in. Signing out and then back in can refresh your session and may fix the issue.

  1. Tap on the Profile icon on the left side in the Twitter app.
  2. Navigate to Settings & Support > Settings and Privacy.
  3. Select Your Account.
  4. Tap on Account Information.
  5. Select Log Out.
  6. After logging out, log back into your account.

5. Clear Cache and Data

Temporary cache and data in the Twitter app can create issues. Clearing them might fix the error by allowing the app to retrieve fresh data from the server.

  1. Long-press the Twitter icon and select app info.
  2. Go to Storage.
  3. Select Clear Data and Clear Cache.

Note: Clearing data will erase your account data in the app, so you will need to log in again.

6. Update Twitter

An outdated Twitter app could cause issues. Updating the app to the latest version may resolve the problem.

  1. Open your device’s App Store or Play Store and search for Twitter.
  2. If updates are available, install them.

Launch the updated app afterward.

7. Reinstall Twitter

Reinstalling Twitter could eliminate any persistent bugs or glitches, potentially solving your problem.
Note: Remember your account credentials before deleting the app, as they will be needed to log back in.

  1. Press and hold the Twitter icon on your phone and tap Uninstall .
  2. Confirm by tapping OK.
  3. Reinstall it from the Play Store or App Store and see if the problem is resolved.

8. Try the Web Version

Should the error persist in the app, use a web browser to access Twitter, as this may help isolate the issue to the app specifically.

Sign in to your account on the official Twitter website.

9. Contact Support

If none of the above solutions are effective, it may be necessary to contact Twitter’s support team for further assistance. They can offer specific advice based on your account details and the nature of the issue.

Support can be reached here.

When the “Translate Button” in the Twitter app stops working, it prevents users from utilizing the translate feature. This issue typically manifests as the Translate Button either not appearing or functioning improperly, which impedes users from translating tweets into their preferred language for better understanding.

The common factors that contribute to the malfunctioning of the “Translate Tweet” feature include app-related technical issues, such as outdated app versions, accumulated cache, or data that result in features not working as expected. Additionally, internet-related issues, including slow or unstable connections, and server-related issues from the backend, can also impede functionality.

In this article, we will discuss fixes to resolve this issue.

1. Preliminary Fixes

  • Check Internet Connection: If your internet connection is slow, this may prevent you from using the Translate button. Use tools like Fast.com or Speedtest.net to check your internet speed. If any issues are detected, try restarting your router or modem. Additionally, you can contact your Internet Service Provider (ISP).
  • Server Status: Server issues can lead to the Translate button not working properly. To check for Twitter server status, visit Downdetector.

2. Clear Twitter(X) Cache and Data (Android)

Temporary cache in the Twitter app can cause issues. Clearing App Data and Cache removes all the temporary or previous data and cache, potentially resolving bugs, and enabling the app to retrieve fresh and updated data from the server which might fix the error.

  1. Long-press the Twitter(X) icon and select App Info.
  2. Tap on Storage.
  3. Press Clear Data and Clear Cache. Note: Clearing Data will log you out, and you will need to log in again.
  4. Reopen the app to check if the issue has been resolved.

3. Use Built-In Translate Feature (iOS)

iOS devices have a built-in feature for translating text. To translate tweets within the iOS operating system:

  1. Open the Twitter(X) app and navigate to the tweet you wish to translate.
  2. Select the text for translation, tap on the ‘>‘ icon in the options, and choose Translate.
  3. The translation will then be displayed.

4. Update Twitter(X)

Using an outdated version of the Twitter app might be the root of such issues, as new updates typically include bug fixes and improvements. Ensure the app is updated to the latest version:

  1. Open the Play Store or App Store, and search for Twitter(X).
  2. If an update is available, tap on the Update button.
  3. After updating, launch the app to see if the issue is resolved.

5. Reinstall Twitter(X)

Persistent issues may necessitate a fresh installation of the app. Reinstalling Twitter(X) ensures you get the latest version of the app without any bugs or glitches. Please note that you will need your account credentials, as reinstalling will erase saved account data, requiring you to log in again.

  1. Long-press on the Twitter(X) icon and select Uninstall.
  2. Confirm by tapping on the OK button.
  3. Next, proceed to the Play Store or App Store and reinstall Twitter(X).

6. Contact Support

If none of the aforementioned fixes work, consider reaching out to Twitter Support and submit a ticket regarding the issue.

The HyperOS Super Wallpaper port from linuxct has received a major update. The latest release brings several great additions to the collection, including the new “Moon” wallpaper. This article will serve as a guide for you to install the port on any device running Android.

What are Xiaomi’s Super Wallpapers?

Xiaomi’s exclusive set of Super Wallpapers are a unique feature on their phones, where the same wallpaper essentially blends across the AOD, lock screen, and the home screen with a continuous, fluid motion.

Earlier this year, Xiaomi brought the new “Moon” Super Wallpapers to HyperOS, featuring five scenes (Chang’e 5, Tranquility Base, The Apennines, Moon Palace, and The Far Side of the Moon). Initially limited to HyperOS devices, the pack has now been ported by developers at App Ports” to run on any Android device.

The Pre-Requisites

The port includes a pack of all six Super Wallpapers: Earth, Geometry, Mars, Moon, Saturn, and Snow Mountain. For this app to work properly, you will need to have:

  1. Google Wallpapers Installed: Make sure you have the Google Wallpapers app installed on your device.
  2. Android 10+: Your phone’s operating system must be Android 10 or later.
  3. Active internet connection: An active internet connection is required to download the wallpaper pack initially.

Please note that these wallpapers require the Google Wallpapers app, which is not a standalone application but rather a feature within the Google Pixel Launcher on Android devices.

Other Xiaomi’s Super Wallpapers included in the pack

This means that while the wallpapers should work on any device compatible with Google Wallpapers, some manufacturers may use their own proprietary settings for managing wallpapers, potentially leading to minor bugs.

↪ Limitations

While Xiaomi’s Super Wallpapers are optimized for devices with Always-On Display, the ported version currently only allows rooted devices to access the AOD feature. While non-rooted devices can still install and use the wallpapers, they unfortunately won’t be able to set them on the AOD screen.

Installing the Moon Super Wallpaper

Each wallpaper in the ported pack comes as an APK file that needs to be installed, and the wallpaper automatically appears in your device’s wallpaper setting. The pack is available on the App Ports Telegram channel, linked below.

Due to regional restrictions, Telegram may not be accessible in your location. If you are unable to open the app, you can try to connect through a VPN to access it.
  1. Download the App:
    1. Join the Telegram channel “App Ports.”
    2. In the channel, search for “Xiaomi SuperWallpapers 2.6.561“.
    3. Tap the message containing the download link.
    4. Alternatively, you can directly download the APK using the link above.
  2. Choose the Correct Version:
    1. The download page provides separate versions for non-root and rooted devices.
    2. Download the APK that matches your phone’s root status:
      • Non-root users: Download the “Non-Root” version.
      • Rooted users: Download the “Root” version.
  3. Install the APK:
    1. Locate the downloaded APK file on your device.
    2. If prompted, allow app installation from unknown sources in your device’s settings.
    3. Tap the APK file to install it.
  4. Activate the Wallpaper:
    1. Open the Google Wallpapers app.
    2. Go to the “Live Wallpapers” section.
    3. You should now see all the scenes from the Moon Super Wallpaper.

Known Issues

While the installation process was relatively straightforward, the port did not function properly on all devices. The developer mentions that “wallpapers cannot be displayed on the Always-On Display (AOD) on some OEM skins (One UI, OxygenOS).” However, during our testing, we encountered additional issues running the app on some custom ROMs.

When tested on a device running PixelOS, the Moon Super Wallpaper displayed a black screen before defaulting back to a stock wallpaper. All other wallpapers in the pack appeared to function normally. In contrast, the wallpapers worked perfectly on three different Xiaomi devices running MIUI and one device running Pixel Experience.

Super Wallpapers have always been criticized for their excessive battery usage. Similarly, since these are essentially Live Wallpapers, they tend to drain your battery more quickly. So, please use them accordingly and be aware of the toll these can take on your phone’s battery life.

Conclusion

The SuperWallpaper mod from linuxct has been receiving consistent updates for the past few years, and some of the bugs listed above may be removed in the upcoming updates. The wallpaper package will be tweaked in the coming days to incorporate support for an even larger number of devices.
