Can’t stop playing Baldur’s Gate 3? Well, you aren’t alone, as thousands continue to enjoy Larian Studios‘ masterpiece., exploring the multiple outcomes for the multitude of side-quests found throughout the game. BG3 is ripe with characters, dialogue options, choices and nearly every other thing.

If you’re on PC, you might have resorted to mods once you’ve had your fill of the game, to further enhance what you felt were its shortcomings, like the lack of a New Game Plus mode. Like most, you would be using the Mod Manager, a tool that organizes your mods and lets you choose the mods you want to load. If the game isn’t launching using the Mod Manager, read on below for potential fixes.

Baldur’s Gate 3 was the standout of 2023’s solid lineup of games

Why Do Gamers Use a Mod Manager?

A mod manager is exactly what it sounds like; an app designed to help organize and manage all your mods for a specific game. Mod managers help select which mods to load before launching the game and can minimize the risk of a game crashing due to overlapping or problematic mods. They can also work in conjunction with other modding tools like custom scripts, ReShade, etc.

Mod managers are preferred over the traditional modding method, as they are much easier to use, more organized and can also be accessed in-game. They also come with some default quality-of-life mods like skipping the game startup sequence, mute annoying music that can’t be muted through the in-game settings, etc. Larian is also planning to do this for via a universal modding tool for all platforms.

Why isn’t Baldur’s Gate 3 Launching Through the Mod Manager?

Unfortunately, if you’ve found yourself in a situation where BG3 won’t launch, you aren’t alone. Many players are victim to the same problem and are baffled as to what’s causing the issue. Here are the probable causes and what you can do to fix them:

1. Incompatible Mod Files

The most probable cause, because obviously we’re dealing with mods here. Try running the game with only a single mod loaded, and do this for every mod you have installed. You’ll be able to single out the problem after some time. Also, try running the game in vanilla settings (without any mods at all) to see whether the mods have altered any game files.

The Achievement Enabler mod has been known to cause problems

For many users, the problem was stemming from the Achievement Enabler mod. However, the mod was updated to fix the issue. Since there are a lot of mods for BG3 out there, you’ll need to make sure that the mods you download are not causing any major issues.

2. Launching the Game as Admin

If you’ve set the game to launch as an administrator to avoid unexpected issues, we regret to inform you that this is exactly what might be causing the issue here. Launching the game through the mod manager tends to skip out on the “start as admin” confirmation pop-up and may render the game unbootable. Simply switch it off by following the steps below:

  1. You can open up the installation folder for any game by rightclicking and choosing Manage, followed by Browse local files from your Steam Library, or by opening up the following path on the File Explorer:
"The drive on which the game is installed":\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Baldur's Gate 3
You can open up the installation folder for any game from your Steam Library
  2. Next, head over to the bin folder and rightclick on the bg3 file. Select Properties.
Right-click and select “Properties” | AaronTechSol
  3. In the Properties menu, navigate to the Compatibility tab and uncheck the Run this program as administrator option.
Uncheck the “Run this program as administrator option” | AaronTechSol
This applies to Vulkan version of Baldur’s Gate 3. If you’re running the DirectX11 version, you can find it in the same folder as “bg3_dx11”.

3. Old Mod Settings being Applied

You can’t blame yourself for installing a bad mod, it’s a part of the modding journey and a valuable lesson. That said, bad mods can have serious consequences as they can alter crucial game files, which in the worst case, can only be fixed via a complete reinstall.

If, unfortunately, you find yourself a victim of a bad mod, and are unable to launch the game, it may be because of the mod settings applying the bad mod even after deleting it. Mod settings are stored in a separate file across different locations, usually 2 or 3 locations. You need to find a file namedmodsettings.lsx” in the following paths. Use the Run command (Windows +R) to access these paths:

  1. %LocalAppData%\Larian Studios\Baldur’s Gate 3\global\
  2. %AppData%\Local\Larian Studios\Baldur’s Gate 3\PlayerProfiles\Public
Use the Run command to access these paths

Once you hit Enter, a File Explorer should open up. Use the Search feature to quickly locate the “modsettings.lsx” file and delete it. After that try, launching the game through the mod manager again.

You can alternatively choose to delete the entire Baldur’s Gate 3 folders you find in these paths. However, this would mean losing all your saves, so make sure to take a backup.
Use the search feature to quickly locate the file and delete it

4. Corrupted Game Files

Many users who encountered this issue reported that verifying the game files fixed their issue. Some mods may remove contradicting game files or replace them in an unnatural manner, causing the game to malfunction. You can verify the integrity of game files on Steam by following these steps:

  1. Open up Steam and navigate to your Library.
    Open up your Steam Library
  2. Now, right-click on the game you want to verify from the list. From the menu, click on Properties.
    Click on “Properties”
  3. Now, click on the Installed Files section. Click on the Verify integrity of game files option to begin the process.
Select “Verify integrity of game files” from the “Installed Files” section
  4. Wait patiently for the verification process to finish. It can take some time around 5-15 minutes, depending on where you’ve installed the game.
The verification process takes a little while to complete
  5. Once the verification is complete, launch your game again through the mod manager to make sure that the issue is resolved.

5. Game Folder and Files are in a Read-Only state

Although a rare occurrence, this issue has affected a few players. If you’ve recently installed an update for BG3, it may have converted all your game files and folders to a readonly state. This means that any new mods that you’re trying to load are probably being rejected by the game directory, on account of it being read-only, rendering the game unplayable.

To check whether your game files and folder is in a read-only state, follow the steps below:

  1. Open up the folder where Baldur’s Gate 3 is stored. You can do this by opening up the following path on the File Explorer:
"The drive on which the game is installed":\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\
    Open up the installation folder
  2. Next, rightclick on the Baldur’s Gate 3 folder and select Properties.
Right-click on the “Baldur’s Gate 3” folder and select “Properties”
  3. Under the General tab, check whether the Readonly option is enabled. Uncheck it and click on Apply.
Uncheck the “Read-only” option and click on “Apply”

Players who attempt to launch the game sometimes run into the Roblox White Screen Glitch error. Instead of the standard game graphics, users are met with a blank, white screen. This malfunction can arise unexpectedly, hindering the gaming experience.

Outdated or incomplete graphics drivers are the most frequent cause of this issue, as they may result in rendering failures that lead to a white screen. Other contributing factors include software conflicts, corrupted Roblox files, browser problems, or Windows issues. Roblox server errors or network connectivity problems may also be to blame.

Multiple restarts of the game may resolve the issue. If not, consider the following solutions:

Preliminary Fixes

  • Disable Third-party Antivirus: Sometimes, third-party antivirus software can interfere with the proper functioning of applications and games. Disabling it temporarily might correct a white-screen crash error.
  • Reinstall DirectX: Corrupted DirectX files can impede game performance and lead to errors. Learn how to reinstall DirectX here.
  • Update Windows: An outdated version of Windows could be causing the problem. Check for the latest system updates and upgrade when necessary. Discover how to update Windows here.

1. Basic Check

Rebooting your device or browser can often fix temporary issues like this error. Doing so can help clear up minor glitches and get your game back up and running. Shut down Roblox, turn off your system for a few minutes, and then power it back on. If you’re utilizing a web browser to play Roblox, close and reopen it.

2. Clear Cache

Cached data can sometimes become corrupted or outdated. Clearing the cache removes temporary files that may be the culprit behind the white screen issue.

  1. Open your browser and select the three vertical dots in the upper right corner.
  2. Choose Settings from the dropdown menu.
  3. Scroll to the Privacy and Security section.
  4. Click on Clear browsing data.
  5. Select the appropriate time range, make sure the necessary boxes are ticked, and hit the Clear Data button.

3. Try a Different Browser

If the browser in use has compatibility issues or problems with its cache, switching browsers may solve the problem. Install a different web browser like Google Chrome, Firefox, Microsoft Edge, or Safari. Also, review any extensions that might be affecting your primary browser. Access the Roblox website using the new browser to see if the game loads correctly.

4. Compatibility Mode

Windows Compatibility Mode allows running programs that are designed for previous Windows versions on your current operating system like an older version of the software.

  1. Right-click the Roblox desktop shortcut and choose Properties.
  2. Click on the Compatibility tab.
  3. Tick the Run this program in compatibility mode for: box.
  4. Select the Windows version that previously worked well with the program.
  5. Click Apply, then OK to save changes, and try launching Roblox again to see if the error persists.

5. Update Graphics Drivers

A white screen can occur due to outdated or problematic graphics drivers. Ensure your GPU drivers are current by visiting the manufacturer’s website for the latest updates.

Avoid using the device manager and instead use your GPU manufacturer’s applications (like Nvidia GeForce Experience or AMD Radeon Software) to ensure you’re getting the correct drivers for your graphics card.

  1. Open your GPU manufacturer’s software (e.g., Nvidia GeForce Experience or AMD Radeon Software).
  2. Go to the Drivers section.
  3. Click on Check for updates, then select Download and Install.
  4. After the update, restart your PC and try accessing Roblox to see if the issue has been resolved.

When you set a refresh rate higher than what your monitor can handle, either accidentally or intentionally, your monitor may not be able to process the display signal, resulting in a black screen.

This issue is common among users trying to overclock their monitor’s refresh rate. They force the monitor to function beyond its compatible and rated refresh rate, which causes the monitor to display a black screen.

Often, this issue can be resolved simply by waiting for 15 seconds without clicking anything or pressing any keys while the screen is black. By default, Windows and any third-party resolution-changing programs will automatically revert your refresh rate back to the default or previous setting to prevent this issue.

However, there are times when this may not solve the problem because the confirmation pop-up may be accidentally dismissed by pressing the ‘Enter’ or ‘Esc’ keys.

In such cases, your only option is to remove and reinstall your computer’s graphics driver completely. Doing so will reset all graphics settings and configurations back to their defaults.

Since the screen is completely black, and you cannot navigate or download a program, you must boot your computer into safe mode with networking. Then, download a program that can detect and remove the graphics driver from your computer, reboot into normal Windows mode, and reinstall the driver.

We will walk you through this process in the following steps:

Step 1. Boot Into Safe Mode

  1. Shut down your computer and turn it back on.
  2. After the Windows logo appears, shut down the computer again. Repeat this action three times. On the fourth attempt, Windows will automatically begin Preparing Automatic Repair.
  3. After it loads, click on Advanced Options.
  4. Go to Troubleshoot > Advanced options > Startup Settings.
  5. Press 5 or F5 to Enable Safe Mode with Networking.

Step 2. Download DDU

DDU, or Display Driver Uninstaller, is a reliable and compact utility designed to completely erase display/graphic drivers from your system. The default method for removing display drivers in Windows doesn’t always thoroughly eliminate all files and registries. Therefore, we will use this tool for a proper uninstall.

Note: If network drivers are not functional in Safe Mode, you may need to download DDU on a different computer and transfer it via USB or other means.

  1. Navigate to the following website.
  2. Choose Mirror (EU) or Mirror (USA)—whichever is closer to you.
  3. Download and extract the files.
  4. Double-click the .exe file that you have just extracted.
  5. Choose a suitable file location and click Extract.
  6. Open the newly extracted folder (DDU v18.0.7.4).
  7. Run the Display Driver Uninstaller.exe to open the uninstaller.
  8. Select your Device type on the right side.
  9. Finally, click on Clean and restart.

Step 3. Re-install Graphic Drivers

Once you have booted into safe mode and removed your display drivers using DDU, you’ll need to reinstall the graphic drivers.

To reinstall your graphic drivers, refer to the guide on our website: https://appuals.com/update-graphics-driver-windows/

It’s been more than a decade since Path of Exile launched for the first time, and its popularity shows no sign of decline. The game received nearly a decade’s worth of updates, with the last one being released on December 2022. Many of these updates introduced new content, while fixing any issues that had been previously encountered in the game.

If you had been searching for a way to boost performance or visuals or avoid some bugs, you must have heard the term DirectX and Vulkan. So what are these? Well, they are graphics APIs. What’s that and how can they affect your game? Read on below!

Path of Exile has been around for more than a decade now | Xbox

What are Graphics APIs and How Do They Work?

To understand what graphics APIs are and how they work, we first need to understand what an API is.

The actual scope of how and what APIs are is beyond the scope of this article. This is simply a condensed explanation as to what they are an how they work.

↪ Application Programming Interface (APIs)

APIs form a connection between 2 or more components of a computer system | GeeksforGeeks

An API (Application Programming Interface) is a set of protocols that allow 2 or more parts of a computer system to communicate with each other. These parts can be both either software or hardware; it depends on the type of API being used. APIs do not have user-interfaces and work in the background within their parameters. They do not allow a normal user to modify their functioning.

APIs can be low-level or high-level in nature. Low-level APIs allow developers to have more control and access over the hardware being targeted, at the expense of increasing complexity. High-level APIs have reduced amount of code which allows for easier, but limited, functionality.

↪ Graphics API

There are many kinds of graphics API | ReplayBird

Now that we’ve understood how APIs work, let’s take a look at graphics APIs. Graphics APIs are protocols that translate the instructions/data given by the function the user is performing, in a format that allows it to access the graphics hardware (more specifically, your GPU) and perform that function through it. It also converts these instruction in a form that is easily interpretable for the GPU.

Graphics APIs allow software developers to access your GPU for performing functions without writing code specific for each GPU. They allow a generalized code that can be used by any GPU that is capable of supporting that graphics API.

The most popular graphics API in use right now are:

1. DirectX

DirectX was developed back in 1995 by Microsoft | Esports.net

The most common graphics API used in Windows PC games, it’s hard to imagine a PC game that doesn’t support DirectX. Developed by Microsoft and first released back in September 1995, DirectX has received many updates over the years. The most recent version is DirectX12, but the industry standard remains DirectX11, with the legacy versions being DirecX10 and DirectX9. All are high-level graphics APIs.

2. Vulkan

Vulkan is completely open-source and free | Wikipedia

Originally, AMD started working on a new graphics API, but abandoned it midway and gave full ownership of the project to the Khronos Group for free. In February 2016, the first Vulkan SDK (Software Development Kit) was released, along with the fully open-source code. Due to its low-level nature, Vulkan has been implemented in most devices including Android phones running Android 8.0 (Oreo) or above.

3. Metal

The Metal API is exclusive to Apple’s devices | Apple Developer

Metal is Apple’s proprietary graphics API, and is exclusive to their devices. This includes iOS, iPadOS, macOS and tvOS. Released in June 2014 for the first time, it is another low-level graphics API that allows Apple devices to gain increased performance through their graphics hardware.

Recently, at WWDC 2022, Apple announced MetalFX, the 3rd version of Metal, which introduces its own upscaling technology. It was introduced alongside iOS 16, iPadOS 16 and macOS Ventura.

Path of Exile: DirectX11 vs. DirectX12 vs. Vulkan

Now, on to the main topic; the affect of different graphics APIs on Path of Exile. Initially, Path of Exile launched with DirectX9. In 2019, Grinding Gear Games; the developers behind Path of Exile, announced that they would be ending support for Windows XP and Vista, by replacing DirectX9 with DirectX11.

Path of Exile has supported a total of 4 graphics APIs over the years | Xbox

On May 2020, GGG added the Vulkan API to the game. Since DirectX12 was still relatively new and the industry still relied on DirectX11 for development, it was only added in an update on April 2022.

↪ DirectX11 on Path of Exile

While DirectX11 (DX11) has been around since the first day, it still suffers from a handful of issues. Stutters, FPS spikes, rare freezes are all issues still encountered by users running Path of Exile on DX11. However, it’s still the best option for those running the game on relatively older hardware, as DirectX12 can instabilities caused by implementing newer features.

↪ DirectX12 on Path of Exile

DirectX12 (DX12) improves upon the many shortcomings of DX11, while introducing several of its own. As mentioned above, DX12 works best on modern hardware. However one should keep in mind that even DX12 has been around for nearly a decade, and its definition of modern hardware is variable.

Running Path of Exile on DirectX12 | Bench Tester

You may get either better or worse FPS, depending on your hardware. Also you’ll be rid of DX11’s stutters, FPS spikes and freezes. You’ll also experience a better visual quality, but expect a bit of high CPU usage. Unfortunately, your game may have a tendency to crash.

↪ Vulkan on Path of Exile

Vulkan offers similar performance to DX12, along with similar visual quality. Basically, it is on par with DX12, but depending on your hardware, may give better performance. However, it is very CPU-intensive and a bit unstable, with a tendency to crash like DX12.

When launching GOG Galaxy, users encounter issues preventing the app from starting correctly. This results in an inability to manage their GOG library or play any game. The problem typically arises during the app’s launch phase and could stem from various causes, such as connection errors to GOG services, conflicts with other programs, internet connectivity issues, or corrupted installation files.

In this article, we’ll address this issue, guide you through troubleshooting steps to successfully launch GOG Galaxy, and enable you to start playing games with ease.

1. Preliminary Fixes

  • Check Internet: Verify your internet connection’s status and speed at Fast.com. Poor internet connectivity might be the reason GOG Galaxy fails to launch, as an active connection is required for the app’s operation.
  • Check Server Status: Server-related issues could also disrupt GOG Galaxy. You can monitor the server status at Downdetector.
  • Disable Antivirus: Occasionally, antivirus programs may conflict with other software, preventing proper function. Learn how to temporarily disable your antivirus in our guide here.

2. Reset Winsock

Connectivity issues might prevent GOG Galaxy from launching. Resetting Winsock is known to resolve temporary misconfigurations or glitches affecting communication between your computer and the internet.

  1. Enter ‘cmd‘ into the Search Box and select Run as Administrator.
  2. Execute the following command:
    netsh winsock reset
  3. Consider resetting network settings for further troubleshooting, as explained here.
  4. Restart your computer and verify if the issue is resolved.

3. Enable DirectPlay

DirectPlay, an API of DirectX that facilitates networking functionalities primarily for online gaming, can help resolve compatibility problems. Since GOG Galaxy is a multiplayer gaming platform, activating DirectPlay might repair the launching issue.

  1. Access the Search Bar, type “Turn Windows features on or off”, and open the feature.
  2. Locate Legacy Components, enable DirectPlay, and click OK.
  3. Restart your computer following the changes.

4. Update Graphics Driver

An outdated graphics driver may also be a contributing factor to GOG Galaxy failing to launch. Updating the graphics driver may resolve the issue.

Our guide on updating graphics drivers can be found here.

5. Run Communication Process Manually

The file GalaxyCommunication.exe is essential for ensuring smooth communication between the GOG Galaxy client and GOG servers. Running this file manually could solve the issue if it’s not launching automatically.

  1. Press Windows + R to open the Run dialogue box.
  2. Enter the following path and click OK:
    C:\ProgramData\GOG.com\Galaxy\redists\GalaxyCommunication.exe

6. Add GOG as an Exclusion in Windows Security

Windows Security may inadvertently be blocking GOG Galaxy. Adding the GOG folder as an exclusion can prevent potential conflicts.

  1. Type ‘Virus and Threat Protection‘ into the Search Bar and access it.
  2. Navigate to the Virus & Threat Protection settings and select ‘Manage settings’.
  3. Scroll to Exclusions, then choose Add or Remove Exclusions.
  4. Select Add an exclusion > Folder.
  5. Include the following directory path:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Gog Galaxy\

  6. Attempt to launch the application once again.

7. Uninstall Conflicting Programs

Certain third-party applications can interfere with GOG Galaxy’s functionality. Reported culprits include Advanced System Care, Driver Booster, Malwarebytes, among others. Uninstalling any program that appears to be causing interference is advisable.

Our tutorial on uninstalling programs can be found here.

8. Launch Game Directly

If your objective is to play a game without the need for GOG Galaxy, you can directly run the game’s executable file from its installation directory.

  1. Open File Explorer and navigate to the folder where the game is installed.
  2. Locate and execute the .exe file to launch the game autonomously.

Should none of the above solutions prove effective, it may be time to consider reinstalling GOG Galaxy. Using Revo Uninstaller is recommended for a comprehensive removal of all related files.

Instructions on using Revo Uninstaller can be accessed here. To reinstall GOG Galaxy, visit the official website.

When attempting to play Palworld in multiplayer mode, players often experience issues where the game fails to connect to servers, resulting in error messages such as Failed to Host Multiplayer Session, Your device is unable to host multiplayer sessions, and OnCreateSessionComplete Delegate bWasSuccessful == False. These messages suggest that multiplayer functionality may be restricted in the player’s environment.

Palworld Online Not Working
Palworld Online Not Working

The reasons for multiplayer features in Palworld not working can vary. They can include server issues or configuration problems with your own device. While server-related issues are beyond our control, we can certainly ensure that your device is configured properly.

When this issue presents itself, error messages you encounter typically stem from bugs, misconfigured game and device settings, or issues with the server.

Let us now address this problem with the following solutions.

1. Basic Troubleshooting

  1. Server Status: Verify that the Palworld servers are operational.
  2. Compatibility: Confirm that your device supports multiplayer in Palworld. Certain older Xbox models may not be compatible.
  3. Network Connection: Check that your network connection is stable and that no concurrent processes, such as background downloads, are monopolizing bandwidth.
  4. Restart: Perform a cold restart of both your console or system and router.
  5. Update: Ensure all related components, including the game, console firmware, system OS, and device drivers, are current.
  6. Alt-Tab Caution: Avoid using the Alt-Tab keys during the launch of Palworld’s multiplayer mode.
  7. Overclock Reversion: Reset your system and RAM speeds to their original, stock values.
  8. Drop Rate Adjustment: For multiplayer games, increase the dropped items limit above the 3K threshold.
  9. FPS Setting: If necessary, lower the game’s FPS settings from unlimited to 90.
  10. Server Address Usage: To connect to a server in multiplayer mode, input the server address in the connect box rather than using the recently joined server list.
  11. Game File Integrity: Use the verification feature to check and repair the Palworld installation.
  12. Session Relog: Sign out and back into Palworld or its launcher.

2. Launch Palworld and Its Launcher as an Administrator (PC Only)

Insufficient administrative privileges can prevent Palworld or its launcher from accessing essential resources for multiplayer functionality, leading to failures. Granting administrative rights can resolve this issue.

2.1. For Epic and Steam

  1. Right-click the Epic or Steam launcher icon and select Run as Administrator.

    Open Steam as Administrator
    Open Steam as an Administrator
  2. Approve the action in the User Account Control (UAC) dialog and start Palworld.

2.2. For Palworld

  1. Press the Windows key and type Palworld.
  2. From the search results, right-click on Palworld and choose Run as Administrator.

    Open Palworld as an Administrator
    Open Palworld as an Administrator

  3. Click “Yes” on the UAC prompt and attempt to play a multiplayer match.

2.3. For Xbox App

  1. Start the Xbox app and locate Palworld within it.

  3. Choose “Run as Administrator” and launch the game.
  4. If the problem persists, close both the game and the launcher.
  5. Reopen the launcher as an administrator and navigate to the Win64 folder within the installation directory. For Steam users, this path typically is:
    steamapps\common\Palworld\Pal\Binaries\Win64
  6. Run Palworld-Win64-Shipping.exe as an administrator and attempt starting a multiplayer game.

For Xbox app users, run Palworld-WinGDK-Shipping.exe as an administrator from the Xbox Games folder.

3. Enable Multiplay in Palworld Settings File (Steam Only)

If multiplay is disabled in the settings file of Palworld, multiplayer functionality will be affected. By enabling this option in the PalWorldSettings.ini file, you may resolve your problem.

Note that this only applies to Steam, as private servers are not yet supported on other platforms.

  1. Exit Palworld and close Steam.
  2. Navigate to the game’s installation directory. Commonly, the path is:
    Steam\steamapps\common\PalServer\Pal\Saved\Config\WindowsServer
  3. Select the PalWorldSettings.ini file (the .ini extension may be hidden) and open it with Notepad.

    Open PalworldSettings.ini
    Open PalworldSettings.ini
  4. Find the bIsMultiplay entry and change its value to true. It should look like:
    "bIsMultiplay=true"
  5. Save the changes and exit the file.
  6. Reboot your system and start Palworld.

4. Clear the Alternate Mac Address on the Xbox

The Alternate MAC Address on an Xbox is used to connect to networks that require certain MAC addresses. If Palworld is struggling to query its servers and other players due to this MAC address, multiplayer functionality may be compromised.

Clearing the Alternate MAC address may resolve the issue.

  1. Open the Xbox Guide and navigate to Profile & System > Settings > Network Settings > Network type (wired or wireless) > Advanced Settings > Alternate MAC Address.
  2. Choose Clear. Afterward, restart your console.

Clear Alternate MAC Address of the Xbox
Clear Alternate MAC Address of the Xbox
  3. Relaunch Palworld and test the multiplayer feature.

5. Change Processor Affinity for Palworld (PC Only)

If Palworld is not making optimal use of your system’s processor architecture, multiplayer may not function correctly. Changing the processor affinity settings for the game might provide a solution.

Warning:

Modify these settings at your own risk. Altering processor affinity can lead to system instability, crashes, and other unintended issues.

  1. Run Palworld but don’t load a world. Then, press the Windows key to make the taskbar appear and the game switch out of full-screen mode.
  2. Right-click on the taskbar and launch Task Manager.
  3. Locate Palworld, right-click, and choose Go to Details. You might have to expand the process tab first.

Go to Details of Palworld in the System's Task Manager
Go to Details of Palworld in the System’s Task Manager

  7. Return to Palworld and load a multiplayer world.
  8. Afterward, go back to Task Manager and revert the setting to All Processors.

6. Add Exception for Palworld in Your System’s Antivirus, Firewall, or Adblocking Service

If your antivirus, firewall, or adblocking service is restricting Palworld’s access to necessary modules or directories where multiplayer sessions are saved, this might interfere with multiplayer connectivity.

Creating an exception for Palworld in these system-protection applications may fix the issue. Below, we outline the process for ESET, though steps may vary for other security products.

Warning:

Proceed with caution when altering antivirus settings or disabling it, as this could expose your system, network, or data to potential threats.

6.1. Retrieve Palworld from Quarantine and Set Exceptions

  1. Start up ESET and go to Tools.

8. Toggle the Multiplayer Feature On and Off

Sometimes the game’s systems that manage multiplayer functionality may fail to operate correctly. Disabling and then re-enabling the feature can often restore functionality. Note that this method won’t work if the Multiplayer option is greyed out.

The following methods can be applied to reactivate the multiplayer option:

8.1. Disable, Teleport, and Re-enable

  1. Start Palworld and choose Start Game.
  2. Select your multiplayer world and select Change World Settings.
  3. Turn Multiplayer to Off, converting it to a single-player mode.

When Palworld gets stuck on the loading screen, you will certainly be unable to enjoy the gameplay. This can happen when launching the game, opening a particular world on a server, and may occur on any game-supported platform, including both official and dedicated servers. Occasionally, the single-player mode will work without any issues.

Palworld Loading Screen Stuck
Palworld Loading Screen Stuck

1. Basic Troubleshooting

Let’s begin with some fundamental troubleshooting steps before we explore more technical solutions.

  1. Restart: Power off your system, server, and router. Wait for a minute before powering them back on.
  2. Update: Ensure that all relevant software components are updated. This includes Palworld, its server, launcher, system drivers, operating system (OS), or console firmware.
  3. Network Type: Set your system’s network type to Private rather than Public.
  4. VPN: To eliminate potential network issues, try playing Palworld using a VPN.
  5. Frame Rate: Limit the game’s FPS to 60 to see if there’s an improvement.
  6. Single Player: Enter a single-player world, perform some simple tasks, then exit to the title screen and attempt to load the problematic world.
  7. Hit Ctrl or Roll: If the issue arises after taking a fast travel journey, press Ctrl or Roll to cancel the grapple.
  8. Windowed Mode: Launch the game in Windowed Mode instead of full screen.
  9. Install an Older Graphic Driver: Sometimes, installing an older graphics driver may resolve compatibility issues with the game.

2. Open as an Administrator and Disable Full Screen Optimization

Lack of administrator privileges or Windows optimizing the game for full screen can result in the game getting stuck on the infinite loading screen. Addressing these two issues can fix the problem.

2.1. Open Launcher as Administrator

  1. Right-click on the game launcher (Epic or Steam) and select Run as Administrator.

    Open Steam as Administrator

A possible cause of a black screen while launching Helldivers 2 can include corrupted user configurations, incorrect file permissions that prevent the game from making changes, outdated graphics drivers, and more.

The DirectX version utilized by the game could also lead to this issue on some systems. With various potential causes, this guide will present multiple methods that might help you resolve the black screen issue in Helldivers 2.

Some players have seen success by editing the user_settings.config file to disable fullscreen mode or by setting the game to borderless windowed mode before exiting, both of which have proven effective in avoiding the black screen problem on subsequent launches.

1. Change Helldivers 2 Display Mode

Initially, you should attempt changing the display mode of Helldivers 2. Incorrect display settings can contribute to the black screen issue.

Alter the game’s display mode via the launch options feature in Steam, starting with a forced fullscreen mode and, if needed, switching to windowed mode.

  1. Launch the Steam client on your PC.
  2. In your Library, right-click on Helldivers 2 and select Properties.

When attempting to join or create a lobby in Helldivers 2, players often encounter an endless loop of “Failed to Create Lobby” errors. This issue typically arises after the introductory cinematic or when trying to join a squad at random, leaving players unable to progress or access the game.

Resetting Network Settings in Windows

The most common cause appears to be server connectivity or configuration issues, as the problem often emerges immediately after updates or during peak server load times.

Local network issues or specific settings on a player’s system that interfere with the game’s online features might also contribute to this problem. Some players have found success in overcoming this error by restarting their routers or modifying network settings, which suggests a notable role for network-related issues.

1. Check for Server Outage

The first step is to check for a server outage when you face the aforementioned error message. If the Helldivers 2 servers are overwhelmed by an influx of player connections, they won’t be able to establish new connections.

In such instances, you must wait for the server outage or the overall excess in player connections to diminish. While there is no official platform to verify server outages for Helldivers 2, you can visit the official Helldivers 2 X (formerly Twitter) handle or employ third-party services like DownDetector to check.

2. Switch Network Connection

Switching your network connection could help circumvent the “Failed to create lobby” error message. This is particularly useful if you are connected wirelessly.

Changing your network connection will allow you to establish a link to the Helldivers 2 servers from a different access point, giving your computer a new IP address.

For instance, activate your mobile hotspot if you are on a wired connection, and connect your device to it to test if the error persists. If you are using a wireless connection, try switching to a wired connection and attempt to access the game again.

3. Change DNS Server

The Domain Name System (DNS) server might be behind the error message in Helldivers 2. This can happen if the game’s network request cannot be resolved by your network’s DNS server.

To rectify such issues, consider changing the DNS server settings on your computer. You can opt for free public DNS servers provided by Google or Cloudflare as alternatives.

  1. Press the Win key + I to open the Settings app on your keyboard.
  2. Navigate to Network and internet > Advanced network settings.

  8. Click OK.
  9. Restart the Steam client and check if the issue has been resolved.

4. Restart Router

Restarting your router can help resolve connectivity issues with Helldivers 2. This action clears the device’s cache and establishes a fresh connection with your Internet Service Provider (ISP).

Renewing your public IP address can help address any IP-related flags on the Helldivers 2 servers. To restart the router, press the Power button on the back or unplug the power adapter and plug it back in after a short wait.

5. Use a VPN Service

Employing a VPN service can potentially resolve connectivity inconsistencies by routing your connection through different servers.

A VPN can help you circumvent regional outages specific to Helldivers 2 by providing you with a new online identity.

There are various reputable VPN services for gaming available. Refer to our comprehensive guide for help selecting the right VPN service for you.

After installing a VPN, connect to its servers to see if the problem has been alleviated.

6. Reset Network Settings

Conflicts within your Windows network settings may prevent Helldivers 2 from establishing a correct connection. This could be due to persistent network adapters or other network configurations.

To address this, reset your network settings in Windows. This action will erase your current network configuration and reinstall any network adapters, allowing you to start afresh.

  1. Open the Settings app using the Win key + I shortcut.
  2. Proceed to Network and Internet > Advanced Network Settings > Network Reset.
